Early in 2012, I thought about starting a natural hair blog to share my natural hair experiences. However, I thought that I could not do it by myself (I still can’t), so I sent some naturals, who attended my college and had just recently gone natural, some questions and asked them to ask any natural that they knew to answer them for hair features.

I got great feedback, and in May 2012, I began publishing natural hair features on Soon, I had run out of features, and I found it time consuming to constantly ask people to answer questions, so I concentrated on documenting my hair stories, and the rest is history.

When I cut my hair off in 2010, I could not gather enough information about natural hair. I was always on the look out for natural hair journey videos and products to use on my hair. I would always be inspired when I saw someone who started with no hair and a few years later, they had long, healthy hair.

The main purpose of this blog is to:

  1. Provide inspiration by sharing my hair stories
  2. Provide women with hairstyles for natural hair

Thank you for allowing me to share my hair stories with you.

Hi, Brittany. I was reading your blog about using honey. How do you use the honey, do you use it after you wash/condition, co-wash and then put the honey on and rinse out or leave it in? I’m a beginner at this natural thing and I have just be searching for different products and other ways to keep my hair healthy. I’ve been natural for about 1 yr and 3 months now and there is so much info out there. I’m even more motivated to continue this journey. Thank you for this site of yours. Sincerely, DeShawnder :o)

Hi DeShawnder. I use the honey before I wash and condition because it helps to wash all the product out. I don’t like to use the deep condition last because I don’t want the residue in my hair. I do rinse my hair off before I apply the conditioner though. Congrats on your natural hair journey and thank you for reading my blog!

High Brittany, My hair is going through transition fron black to black and gray. My hair is very soft. I have been trying different styles of braids but because they itch so bad I have been looking for something else so I can remain natural. I have not had a perm in years, my hair is all natural. Do you suggest the kinky twist? How do you take care of them and how often do you wash your hair with the twist? Thanks for this chance to talk with you.

Yes. Kinky twists are great in my opinion. I recommend the Equal Freetress or Janet Collection Noir marley hair. Honestly, I don’t wash my hair when I have in braids and extensions. I don’t apply any oil to my scalp because one time when I did, it started to itch tremendously. It was only when I washed it that the itching stopped. I usually keep them in for 5-6 weeks and I wipe my scalp off with a wet towel and a little shampoo. You can definitely wash your hair, but it will frizz and start to stick out of the twists. At least thats what happened to me. Hope this helps.

Hey Brittany, I bleached my natural hair a few months ago and now it is beginning to look weak, brittle and dries out allot. Is there anyway I can reverse the damage?

    Hi Brittany,
I am very impressed on how far you have come along with this. So happy for you. I am still struggling with my natural hair. Wish I asked for your advice ever since we were in college. Take care
